 Hello! My name is Cady Judge and I am an aspiring curator. I created this blog as a place for me to practice curating online exhibitions. I am very interested in digital art and online art and the changing landscape of the internet that we have to traverse. 

On the exhibits page, you will find the online exhibits I have made using a platform called KunstMatrix. On the blog page, you will find written posts on artworks, opinion pieces, criticisms, and whatever else I would feel like writing!

       In June of 2022, I was given my first opportunity to curate an art show. It was volunteer work, but I was happy to do it, as it was for an anniversary of a store I worked at for around 3 years. I was paid in thanks and with a thoughtful Carole King record. Dessart Sweets is an ice cream and candy store located in Regina, Saskatchewan, and in 2022, it celebrated 20 years of being opened.      The owner of the store, Shelley, was telling me one day at work that she wanted to have an art show. The store originally began as an artistic candy store, and evolved to become what it is today. I offered my help, as I was graduating that same June with a degree in Cultures of Display from the University of Regina. Updating the Art World: The Artists of Instagram

Instagram is a platform that can be used to promote influencers, brands, and emerging artists. Artists on Instagram have the newfound ability to reach an audience beyond the institution through an accessible platform, giving the artists a popularized audience. The pieces shown in this exhibit display these popularized and ‘relatable’ ideas that grow outside of a museum setting. The impact of displaying popularized art in a museum creates the narrative that art created for a social media platform is as equally important as art made for a museum. The artists presented were all chosen in order to show the full range of styles that can become popular on Instagram.
